They Just Aren't Geek Enough

I managed to get a few photos of Simon in his Horde Shirt, though I can't say they are very good ones.  Capturing the male of the Katza species on film is difficult at best.  Almost up there with Chupacabras. I'd love to do an actual photos hoot with him in this thing, but honestly, this is about what they would end up looking like anyway.  Usually, no matter how hard I try, he ends up fuzzy. Much like Big Foot.

Personally, I think this looks awesome with the red leather Wilson's jacket I got from a consignment sale for $25. Not something I'd ever pay full price for and he loves it to bits, so score one for Mom!  I asked him if any of his classmates noticed his shirt, he said no. Unfortunately we live in an area of little geekiness. However, when we went to Anime Weekend Atlanta to hand off two kittens (five more to go!!), lots of people there were all "Cool little dude".

Yup, about right.

In other news, I've been thinking about inventing a portable distortion field to prevent surreptitious photo taking. I figure there's enough scientists among this crowd we could put something together. Feminist sewists unite!

Horde Shirt

I sewed something!!  The buttons go the wrong way for a men's shirt (The precedence for why this is even an issue in the first place is strange, and religious in nature), but doing it the 'correct' way would have messed up the pattern placement.  I didn't bother with a top button, as Simon probably wouldn't bother with it anyway.  This is McCall's 6226, which is out of print now, and really a shame too. Its a very versatile pattern if you have growing boys.

This is World of Warcraft "Horde" print that I got from Spoonflower some time ago.  I had promised to get it done for school, but failed, so this has sort of been a blockage in my creative output because I felt guilty for not finishing it.  I feel better now, and hopefully I'll be able to get the juices flowing.

In any case, I have a happy young man right now.  I'll do more construction details later.

Quickie

This is just a quick post to remind you the last give-a-way closes in less than 24 hours. I'll be doing the dice rolls and announcements by this Saturday.

 Also, I finally made some progress on the kids' projects, including a muslin on my daughter's bra top and getting Simon's shirt cut out.  As expected, the size 8 (chest 26") had almost eight inches of ease.  EIGHT.  I know its suppose to be a loose style but that's absurd.  Oh, and Simon got a haircut.  This was the best photo I could come up with:

In any case, I have lots of photos on the DSLR and more to write about but this  will have to suffice for now.
